Letter from Barack Obama

Five days before the election, I received a letter from Senator Barack Obama. I was surprised that I got a letter from him and excited.

Senator Obama's advice to me:

"Dear Stas, Thank you for your kind words and for your support. I am impressed with your interest in politics, especially at your young age. I encourage you to visit my website kids.barackobama.com to learn more about everything we're doing to make your family's future even brighter.

I leave you with three bits of advice that will make your life more fulfilling: Look out for other people, even when it does not directly benefit you; strive to make a difference everywhere you go; and get back up every time you are knocked down.

Thanks again for writing to me. Seeing young people like you who care about making things better inspires me and gives me great hope about the future of our country and our world. Sincerely, Barack Obama"

What a wonderful blog for a dynamic young man. I am a political scientist who shares the love of politics like you do. If you continue to study hard, listen to your parents and learn from your mistakes (because you will make them at times) you will give this world hope. The one thing that transcends boundaries...is love. The world is your oyster...discovery it. I will be back to visit your blog soon...stay focused.

I will be praying for you always,
Socratian

Stas, I was thrilled to learn about your blog from the Sun-Times.
I was so happy to vote for Mr. Obama and even happier to learn he will be leading our country very soon. Your blog is special beyond belief. I have great hopes for you to reach every goal you set for yourself in your life.

Stas, this is awesome. You are a smart young kid, it is good to see that people like you will have the country in their hands after my generation gets through with it. I am a Senior at Indiana University and I read and talk about political and intellectual things all the time, but I have never come across someone as young as you that can help spread a message as efficiently as you have. For you or others: I recently wrote a blog post about Palin (which thank God is insignificant now) and will continue to right about other things political and sports in the future. Check it out.

Congratulations on your letter, and thank you for posting your thoughts on this blog. This is one of the best blogs I've seen-you write better than many adults!

I'm glad to see you're a violinist-so am I (I play in the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra). Keep up the good work in politics, writing, and in music!

Hi, Stas! Someone posted about your blog at Daily Kos, the largest political blog on the web. I would really encourage you to go there (dailykos.com) and get an account. After 1 week, you'll be able to post your own "diaries" on the site and reach an audience of over a million visitors a day. Title your first diary something like "I'm 7 years old and blogging for Obama" and you'll be an instant hit!

Good show on the blog Stas. I saw a web story on it today and had to check it out. Although I am not fond of Senator Obama I hope he will do the right things for our country and I support him. I just wish he wasn't a Socialist. :(

Keep up the blog!

Stas,

Congratulations.

I agree with you about Palin – that 6,000-year thing totally disqualified her.

Keep up with your violin, too.

Stas, I found out about your blog through Reddit.com. A user there posted a link to an article which led me here.

I am 26 years old from Michigan. I just wanted to let you know that I am so proud of you. I was excited to see such smart posts from a boy as young as yourself. If only more people in our country were as educated as you!

Please accept my thanks, and tell your parents that I say thanks to them as well! You are a wonderful person, and I have bookmarked your site to keep track of how your life goes.

Good luck with everything you do!

Very cool to see a youngster so politically engaged. Not to be partisan, but this sweet kid could govern better than anything Sarah Palin could ever dream of, right now, today, at the age of seven!

Good luck to you, Stas!

Hey Stas, great job with the blog. I'm just a young kid too (18) and it's great to see someone as well informed and well spoken (well, typed) as you are. Keep it up, and i think Obama's transition team should look to you for a place in his cabinet. Secretary of Education, perhaps?

Hey Stas,

Thanks for the blog. It is about time children start getting interested in politics.
I feel sorry for people who are giving you advise on your blog on what to do and how.

I think it is sad that adults are the ones making all the decisions that are ruining the world and children don't have a say at all when it comes to the future and environment that they will inherit.

Thank you for reminding people that children Do
have a voice and I hope more kids get interested in politics and voice their opinions like you do.
